Springfield Federation of Music Clubs (SFMC) holds the Festival Program for District 4 of the Illinois Federation of Music Clubs which is part of the National Federation of Music Clubs Festivals Program. Festival is held each year in late February and/or early March. Festival provides students (age 18 and younger) the opportunity to perform and receive yearly evaluations in a non-competitive environment. Festival is open to instrumental or vocal students whose teachers are members of SFMC. Each student prepares two pieces to perform for a one-two judges. Each student receives comments and a numerical score from the judges. The point value of a student’s score can be used for earning Gold Cups in the Gold Cup Program.
Adult students are also allowed to perform in Festival.
According to the NFMC website “participation in NFMC Festivals promotes music study, stimulates interest in the musical literature of both the USA and the worlds, and encourages each participant to reach a high standard of musical achievement.”
Festival dates for 2024 are February 17 and 18 and February 24 and 25. Festival is held at the studio of Kristin Maletich and Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield, Illinois. See the Calendar for more information.
